Hi all I am a total newbie to bees!  I Just finished building my hive it has all 8 frame med supers.  Still need to decide on type of frames and foundation, but thats for another thread.   My 3# package is coming from a local beekeeper in mid April.  I have read everything I can find and still have tons of questions.  I also have cows, chickens, a wife and two kids, thats children, not goats.

Welcome Dog! Have you considered going foundationless?

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Welcome to the forum.  We have many of the same interests.  We raise cattle, a laying flock of chickens, broilers on pasture, keep bees and have six children.  (We fixed that last one by putting a TX in the bedroom.) :)  We used to have sheep and goats as well.  Good luck with your beekeeping.  I think you've come to the right place for positive feedback and good information.  I'm with Hardwood, go foundationless.
