Interesting.  Looks like the side screens will give it plenty of ventilation but out of curiosity did you have any fogging issues?  What type of plastic sheeting are you using?  Looks good. ;)

No fogging it is far enough from the face , this is my first one I will probably scale down the size of the shield but it is nice and bright like not wearing a veil. The plastic is a replacement face shield like you wear in a wood shop or for grinding the type that flip up, very flexible for making the curve . I used 1/8 " rod to hold the shape . I won't go back to a screened veil . With a little fine tuning and adaptation you could make any veil a clearview(tm) Ha ha A fan and magnifying glass next. So far a great success. Brian

I like it and might try one myself if I can find an old veil (gotta go see my mentor!) or a cheap one to "experiment" with. ;)   Thanks for the info!

I do think there's a vendor that has a Clear Vue Veil, but Clearview sounds better to me! ;)

I don't know about the magnifying glass but something like this might work for the hat....solar panel on top with switch, fan in front blowing down on sweat band (evaporative cooling), and a battery holder under the rear brim for those overcast days.  Works good, too!  Would just have to build a mesh cage around the fan. :)

Seems like 1/8" rod would be heavy.  Is it?

What about using something like the plastic strips out of old windshield wipers?  Maybe heat them a little to form a curve in them?  Epoxy the shield to the blades?  I guess you could possibly even leave a strip of the original mesh around the perimeter and epoxy the shield/support assembly directly to the old mesh...

Just thinking...  (OUCH!!!!!...I hurt myself!!!)

Felt like a beach day hit 60 , snow will be gone in another week. The 1/8" rod isn't to bad and it slides in the seam at the bottom , I was thinking a thin computer fan . It's unlimited to what can be done but the clearview is great.

Greetings . . .

I have a Kelley Square Folding veil. With poor eyesight, bifocal lines, and the grid of the screen, I could not see how to walk!

Here's how I solved my problem:
Purchased clear plastic replacement lens for a saftey face shield ($5.00??)
Cut stitching and removed front screen.
Measured screen (mine was 8x10"). Cut clear lens using sharp knife (box cutter).
Using very small drill bit, drilled holes 1/4" apart, 1/4" from edge of plastic.
Sew into veil. (Takes about 90 min)

WORKS GREAT! I have no problem w/ fogging. Seeing eggs still difficult unless I have bright sunlight over my shoulder.

SUGGESTION:
When I replace the scratched lens, I think I'll sew Velco into the veil, and use sticky Velco on edge of plastic. Should make replacement a lot quicker.

Hope this helps!

Great idea. I like the velcro idea too.
