Is it both commercial and backyard keepers or is it mostly commercial taking the hits?

My opinion.
Commercial pollinators.
I have never seen this myself.

most often i find my greatest source of stress to be OPS  ( other peoples stupidity )

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought of as a fool than to open ones mouth and in so doing remove all doubt.

Was there a drought, record heat or cold or anything different (weather) up to a year before? Can you explain what you saw or didn't see...? Do you live where they spray crops or mosquitos or anything that you might have been concerned about?

Better.to.Bee.than.not

There have been records of simular losses they have found since forever...for some reason at various periods, periods back as far as the 1800's even, there are sudden bee losses. these earlier mentioning have not been calling CCD, but they simply just noted the massive losses. One incident in 1903 evidently over 2000 hives were lost in utah.  but we hear a lot about commercial instances because first of all, normal people do not talk about their losses or record them often, but commercial outfits often lose such a large # at a time often.
