Tops warping on a couple someone made for me. What is best fix...... shim around all sides I guess to make it more like a telescoping cover. Love the design and cost. Can you leave a bottom off and stack them? Have you tried? Is the 1/2 inch surface area wide enough to stack on? As I said before forgive my ignorance no wood worker at all. I know just go do it and quit whining :-D

We're talking plywood right?  Yeah, the internal stresses make the stuff warp awful when it gets wet.  OSB is much more warp resistant (and cheaper), but it will expand in thickness (kind of like a sponge) as it gets wet.  It won't last forever, but at least it stays flat.

Another idea might be to pick up some cement board or hardiboard for the covers.  They are impervious to water, they don't warp, and they have the added benefit of some built in weight.

is the top painted?  I wouldn't think it would warp if painted...

Yea good coat of paint. Were flat but bowing in the center now. Still love the design just may go to a different kind of top.

mine warped, too. I used two bricks on them, one front and back. The I went to 3/4 " plywood, painted real good. No troubles with that.

No math mind or wood worker. How much would that change the plans/cuts. Enough to matter or not enough to bother with?

I ran a 1x2 down each side of the tops and screwed every 3-4 inches. Holds the top on tight and keeps it from warping.
