I caught a very large swarm and put in a 10 frame deep box. The swarm was probably 6 lbs. or more. Added a frame feeder and put in probably 2 qts. syrup. the hive had 2 frames of comb which was filled with syrup. Most of the syrup was still in the feeder. The walls of the hive, frames  and all the bees were coated with syrup. I have collected a lot of swarms but this one stomps me. Swarm too large? Too much syrup? entrance too small? Any ideas?

By dead do you mean piled on the bottom board or just gone?

If they are there dead, and you gathered the swarm from unknown origin, pesticde spaying of the swarm would be my suspect.

they were dead, piled on the bottom board. Caught them in my apiary. Probably were a wild swarm.

sc-bee

Someone probably sprayed them.

yeah,
Probably correct, but makes me very sad/angry...
If they increased energy bill for your home by a factor of 4.5 would you consider that cruel? If so why are you doing that to your bees?
