almost all the bees are wageling on the front of the hive. why?
could it be prelude to a swarm?
just my luck no boxes

Are you referring to wash boarding? Going forward and backwards in the same spot? If that's the case from what I've read there's not much an explanation for it. "It's what bees do" category.

They also do a dance/waggle to communicate the flight pattern of where a good source of pollen/nectar is. The house bees also communicate this way to the foragers to let them know what type of stores are important to gather at the present time.

it is like their nervous and and shaking it off. a waggle dance but all are doing it.
