my sumac has been budding for a while but still hasn't opened and i turned my buckwheat under a couple of weeks ago.  if the sumac doesn't do something soon the goldenrod is going to be blooming at the same time.  i had hoped to get a few bottles of sumac this year but i don't know if it's going to happen.

We had sumac open early in june, thats all dried up now, but this round is hopping here. I guess they are 2 different varieties they both look like staghorn to me. The goldenrod is starting to go pretty decent now. Good Luck 10 framer. G :chop:

the sumac about 20 miles from here opens in june and this opens in august.  i think i have smooth here.  there is a stand of what i think is staghorn a few miles from here that hasn't bloomed the last two years.  i don't know what to make of that.

I have been planting acre fields of Buckwheat 2 weeks apart since early June.    the bees love it during the summer dearth.   I am about to turn under my first crop this week.    Very hot and humid (upper 90's with heat index over 110) here in west Kentucky but we have had rain recently

The bees will quit going out to the Buckwheat by around 10 or 11 am.    Early morning you can have 10s of thousands of bees collecting pollen and nectar but by noon less than 100.
