why are my girls so noisy?

I can nearly hear them in the house
I believe is orientation flights
almost no dragging out other bees
some drones coming and going
pollen coming in
what is up?

down here when should we take off the supers?

Have you ever seen a hive swarm? They get pretty noisy then too. It seems to me their flying isn't as smooth as when on orientation flights or foraging.

Sounds like a swarm!

Even for Florida, that's pretty poor timing, I suspect.

Jay, you may want to look around in some trees or bushes around your place. Did a rain pass through before you heard them? If so the money's on swarming. Then again, noisy to you may be different than noisy to someone else.

Sho nuff, look in some trees or bushes around there. 10framer posted on a thread one time last spring telling me about the same thing. He said I see where a rain just went through your area, you need to walk around and take a look. Sure thing, found one in a tree near some hives.

does not feel like a swarm to me

could it bee the queen has stepped out for a romp with the boys?

GSF

I don't think she does that. Once she starts doing the queen thing she'll only leave if there's a swarm, fire, or something like that. However, bees will do what bees do.

Only if she was a virgin on her maiden flights which could very well bee what you had happen.

I have heard a queen-less hive before. they are much louder than this hive

watched a queen come back to the same hive. as she walked over the threshold the hive went quite, like a switch was fliped

as the orientation flight ended so did the noise. maybe just a call them back noise.?
what do you think. these two hives are always talking loud.
