I wanted to post an update.

I went ahead and pulled the cork off the candy end on Thursday of last week. I checked on Saturday to see if the queen was released and found her still in the cage. I watched the bees trying to feed her for a bit so I went ahead and pulled the screen off and let her crawl out.

I did a check of the hive today to see how she was doing. I am happy to report that she is alive and well. She has grown bigger in the last few days and I believe I witnessed her laying eggs. Sadly I do still have a lot of drone cells and cells with multiple eggs.

I managed to get much better photos this time so I wanted to share.

Excellent pictures.  Looks to me like a queen's work going on.

I am not sure what are seeing but it looks good to me. What I see are very young larvae with lots of royal jelly.

At the top of the third picture are we seeing a row of older larvae?  Actually, 2+ rows?

This photo is the main one that concerns me:

I see multiple eggs in one cell. (You may have to click on the photo and then zoom in to see).

All the capped brood you see is prior to the new queen being introduced.

You have nothing to worry about in my opinion. I see centered eggs, eggs laying over, and just hatched brood being cared for. It looks like a solid pattern and your bees are doing their job. If it was a laying worker, there would be multiple eggs on sides of comb. The Queen probably just misfired and laid 2 in that cell. The bees will take care of it. Good Luck. G

The queen is there, they have accepted and are attending her (see your pic). How much empty comb does she have to lay in? New queen will sometimes have multiple eggs in a cell. As far as drone cells.... you released her Sat., her brood has not even had time to develop and begin to be capped. Relax, give her some time and leave her alone
