Normal for so much honey in the brood box?

First year beekeeper here. I have two deeps and have a honey super being delivered. All ten frames in each deep have been drawn and there's quite a bit of honey in the upper deep. The outer frames in either side are filled with capped honey on either side. The remaining frames all have capped honey along the top of each frame, and the middle three or four frames have capped brood filling the remaining area of the frames that don't have capped honey. Is it normal for so much capped honey at this point in the year? Thanks in advance for your replies.

It would depend on where you are. Please add your location to your profile. You might be OK with 2 deeps going into winter. Go and add your honey supers and you might avoid a swarm.  -Mike

I'm in Connecticut. So far no swarm cells or supercedure cells. Once I have the super on could I take the honey from those two deep frames and return them to the hive?

"could I take the honey from those two deep frames and return them to the hive?"  ??  Where are they now? Your bees will need some honey for the winter. I run 3 mediums as my brood boxes and add suppers for the honey I plan to collect. I can usually make it thru the winter with what the bees leave in the brood boxes, when I can not I will add fondant or dry sugar on the top of the third box's frames.  -Mike

I know I need to leave the honey for the bees. I thought maybe I could poach one side of frame and return the frame back to the deep. My super arrives tomorrow so i'll leave everything as is and just add the super tomorrow.
Does the same rule of thumb apply to supers as far as 7 of 10 frames being full before adding another super?

I would think that it is early enough in the season that you could sample the honey.  I know as a new beek that it tempting to take a little taste.  If they have two deeps filled then I don't see a problem with taking a frame.

I think that it is more about space for the entire hive than number of frames.  If your two deeps are packed with bees(meaning that they are covering all or nearly all they frames)than you could probably add two medium supers.  Ideally you give the bees enough room to grow but not too much room that they cannot defend it from wax moths and hive beetles.
