I was wondering if we put our bug light on around dusk, will the bees fly to it? We went swimming last night and the mosquitoes  and beetles and other flying bugs were horrible. I saw the girls bearding the hive, but didn't see any flying.

So I was just wondering if they call it a night at dusk or not? Don't want to zap them. :(

how close to the hives is the light? if it's over 50' it should not be an issue. I have some bees out at dusk when my moonflowers are blooming but a 1/2 an hour after the sun goes down they've headed for the hive.

I believe its about 50 feet...

I have a small pond about 20 feet from my hive and just recently installed some LED submerged lights in it. The first 2 nights I had them on and left them on all night by mistake and there were about 10 dead bees per night....have since turned them off and no more dead bees. Not sure if the Bug zapper will be the same but those LED lights were definitely a draw.
