Switchback

I did a walk away split going on three weeks ago. After a week I checked for queen cells. They went all out, the hive had about a dozen queen cells. I got greedy and made a couple more splits. I knew the queens would hatch early this week. Today was a nice day so I kept checking them. About 3:30 PM I saw a queen trying to fly from the concrete under the hives to the hive (12 inches or so). She would get about a inch from the concrete and crash back down. So I got a board and let her climb on it and lifted her to her front door. She scooted right in. She must have been exhausted from her mating flight. Do you think she would have gotten back in without help?

Who knows, but you're a beekeeping hero for now!!! Nice catch, and good eye.
