I installed my first two packages in top entrance hives a week ago from today and have been useing a 3 1/2 inch spacer for baggy feeders.I popped open the two hives today and noticed quite a mess on the top cover. They made a bunch of comb on the top cover thats about almost the same width of the spacer not sure how to fix this.I thought about cutting some small wooden blocks in there to fill the gap that they didnt fill with comb yet to hopefully force them down into the hive, what do you guys think i should do?

I like mason jar feeders on the inner cover. If it's too cold up there at night take the jars in at night. Packages are comb building machines so if you want to stick with the buggies, shims may help

the spacers I use when baggy feeding are 1 1/2 inch.  I still get some burr comb, but not as much.  What I do get, I collect and add to the pile that I melt when it's convenient for me.  Never a bad idea to have a little beeswax on hand for a multitude of purposes.
