I did a hive inspection yesterday.  When I was putting the hive back together the largest larva I have ever seen was laying on the inside of the cover.  I'm quite certain it was a queen.  Either that or I'm in the middle of a 1950's horror flick.

My question is, should I have put the queen larva into my alcohol bottle?

My guess is it was a greater wax moth larva.

Google wax moth. There are many things to look for at different stages. Then come back with any particular questions.

A photograph would save guessing.

Sorry LJ, by the time I thought of a photo it was too late.
