I brought home that cutout with 5 frames of brood and a queen.
I stacked them on a 10 frame failing hive that only had 3-4 frames being worked.
Yes both boxes have 10 frames now.
The cutout was an extremely strong hive.
3 days now and I see a few flying around the top box.
I don?t see very much activity in lower entrance.
What?s going to happen here you think?
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Then all else falls in line
It?s up to me

10 frames in a 20 frame hive in Florida. SHB HEAVEN  bye bye, bees.

Did you add cutout on top of a existing hive ?

Salty, you might have put the queen in panic mode which is good.  Panic mode is when the queen see lots of space to lay and few bees, so she panics and lays like a spider mite.  She just might fill up the hive with bees, we will know in a few weeks.  Health to your bees.  Keep us informed, Salty.  I am cheering for ya.

I have been around bees a long time, since birth.  I am a hobbyist so my answers often reflect this fact.  I concentrate on genetics, raise my own queens by wet graft, nicot, with natural or II breeding.  I do not sell queens, I will give queens  for free but no shipping.

To be clear-Er
There are 20. Sorry
This hive receives full sun and I?m not seeing any beetles in this one.

Salty dances to the bees; he sings the sweetest song

The bees do like, the honey is prize, with this there is no wrong

And Salty, well Salty is full of pride and keeps singing all along.

To be clear-Er, I meant 10 frames covered with bees and 10 empty frames for the SHB to hide on. You need to keep bees covering most frames. Watch closely for SHB and act quickly if they move in.
