Hive one is acting strange

Hello

 Ok this is something i never notice until tonite when i went to take a look at my girls first there is a smell of butterscotch coming from all three hives and you can here them humming and fanning so i guess they found a good source and they are ripening it. But hive one was acting very weird they were running around to front of the hive and the guards were packed in the entrance you could not see in the entrance because it was so full of bees but the other two hive had only a few gaurds at the front is this something for me to worry about i see no kind of marks as if anything was bothering them of course my dogs are close to the hives but they are way out of reach from bothering them could it be they are making honey and they are gaurding it well. They were just running around and some would fly out and then back.

One is guarding the fort and the other is celebrating the booty of a raid.  The difference is often seen in people: the victim of a burglar becoming paranoid about security and the burglar counting his loot.

Hello Mr. Bray

    I thank you for your words of wisdom so i take this as they have a good flow going on and that they are guarding what they have collected from robbers. My other hives are not acting as bad but they all are humming good my third hive and my first hive send out alot of workers then hive two but hive two works like crazy once they get going good. I would like to know if i should go ahead and treat for mites as once in a while i see some of the bees in three are carrying out some bees that have weird looking wings so i am thinking they may have a mite problem an which mite product should i use since it is cooling down at nite.

You an always treat for mites.  That's the nice thing about doing sugar shakes and going to a more natural sized comb over other methods.
