LET-CA

Having lived in the western US most of my life, I've seen lots and lots of livestock operations, and it occured to me that there might be a market for anyone who can manufacture an itty-bitty branding iron and come up with a way to brand each of the 40-60 thousand bees that live in a hive.  Recognizing that there's another thousand plus newcomers each day during the season would mean that you'd be kept busy with that little tool, but just think of the pride of ownership you'd have as you spotted one of your girls out in the fields!

Yep, with ideas like that I'm bound to be rich. . .

Yep, until one of your branded bees happened to sting someone, they sue you.  Can't say that bee was not yours.  Then you are not so rich.  Charlie

A friend of mine made me a branding iron awhile back.

I think branding is cruel.

I'd prefer collars or maybe name tags.

Name tags are cool, but I couldn't think of more than 18,000 girls names. . .

A straight pin makes a good running iron.

There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

You will have to have a rope to tie and hold them with when you brand them.  :-D

That takes too long.  With a little practice you can hold them between your fingers.  It would take forever if you rope them all. ;)
