I have been looking for drone foundation for mediums, but can't find any..  Does anyone know where I can get some?  Or is it better to cut down some drone foundation from a deep sheet?

Allan,

Just curious - are you seeking to aquire drone foundation for mite control? I have wondered how feasable that approach is (encouraging drone production to lure and kill mites)...seems like a lot of extra work for the bees for potentially minimal return.

That's my goal.. thought I would give it a try. From everything I have read, it appears to work quite well if you have the time and only a few hives..

What are you using in your mediums?
Plastic Foundation?
Permacomb?
Natural Strips?
Something else?

Sincerely,

I am looking for Natural wax foundation.

Thanks.

Put an empty frame in the brood nest and if they have very little to no drone comb they will fill it with drone comb.  You can also cut a deep sheet of wax drone comb in half and put it in a medium with a 2" gap at the bottom.  This works fine.  Or you can just cut the deep down to medium.
