KONASDAD

Understudy just left my abode this evening for our nations capitol. I repeat, Homeland security alert!!!!!! Actually, I packed him a snack of leftovers, gave him some of my honey harvest and sent him on his way. Trust me he is harmless, I would know. Great time. Great guy. Can't wait to cross paths again. Pictures were taken and I am sure some will be posted. It was a glorious weather day, pulled some honey and extracted while having a few Blue Moon Honey Summer Ales & Yuenglings. Followed by BBQ'ing of burgers, chicken, wine etc. Relaxing day w/ good conversation and enjoyable pastimes. Humans could want no more from life than the day we had. My dog Kona also enjoyed the honey harvest and Brendon's company. Beemaster..... was unfortunately offered cushy overtime and took it over beers, BBQ and bees. To Beemaster or any other forum member. Please consider my home a meeting point for a NJ gathering of your forum or a solo visit. I have  a great relaxing environment for any type of gathering, small or large and love to share my home w/ any one, especially bee people. My other friends are afraid of my girls.LMAO. Understudy say my girls are sissies compared to florida bees. Nonetheless, my girls started w/ undrawn supers and I managed to get a pinch over ten gallons b/n two hives. I left a lot of honey, maybe too much, in the brood areas and could have taken more. I expect at least two more weeks of flow as clover is strong right now. Lots to tell, (particularly comparisons b/n florida and northeast hives) but I'll leave some of it to my new friend, Understudy to tell.

Notes on meeting Konasdad:
1. That man can throw a party.
2. That man cooks up a mean grill of food.
3. He is just an incredible individual.

I aplogize for the delay but my hotel had an awful connection. I think it may be related to the fact that Verizon just sucks. So I could barely log on let alone upload photos. But as I sit here in Philly airport I am able to upload them. So here you go:

Now some of the differences on the bees I noted.
His bees maybe all northern bees are just way to tame. Even european bees brought south get testy.

The queens are enormous. If I had queens that big I would never have a problem finding the queen. My queens are slightly bigger than a worker and a slightly different color. I think queens shrink when they get here. He said his other queen was bigger. She would be the size of a cigar if that was true.

We went in and grabbed frames of honey and brought them in and went to work on them. Pull frames , drink beer, uncap frames drink beer, spin frames, drink beer.
Strain honey and then eat lots of food and drink more beer.

Konasdad's bees make a very light colored honey. It has a very different sweet smell. My honey is much darker and has a very different sweet smell to it. It was very neat to see the different kind of honey.

I had an incredible time and enjoyed myself immensely.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

It's the secret ingredient in the honey that gives it that special flavor.

Konasdad and Brendhan.  Excellent!!!  What a day.  I think it is great when the beeks get together and do their thing.  Wish I could have been there to drink the beer, enjoy obviously great company, eat up the grub and have fun.  Yeah!!!!

Nice pictures by the way Brendhan.  Again said, so nice to put faces to the people in the forum.  Have a wonderful day, greatest of life.  Cindi
