West Nile Virus spraying in Sacramento

I know we have some similar posts going right now, but was wondering if anyone lost any hives this past week due to the spraying done in various parts of Sacramento, California.

I am so frightened at the thought of something like this happening in my county.(I am 40 minutes up the road from Sacramento) I know they spray after dusk, but with the weather so warm up here, the bees are still flying after dusk.

Just wanted to know how people handle this sort of thing.

call the county agricultural dept.  they usually have a schedule for spraying and they usually let people know before they do it.  if you know they are going to spray, you can close up your hive and cover it.  even if you had to close it up for 24 hours, it would be better than having your bees killed.

your bigger risk would be farm spraying, but most fall spraying would be on thing that would not be attracting the bees anyway.  very little spraying is done now because crops are being brought in.
