Brood Comb for Honey Super

I did a search to no avail.
On 2 of my hives, the girls used a single medium super for brood rearing when I was expecting a surplus of honey. With the frames of comb being light brown to dark brown due to a generation or two of brood, can I still use these frames for extracted honey next year ? FYI, I do not use queen excluders, but instead use slatted racks between the Brood Deeps and Medium Supers. Apparently, the Queen needed more egg laying space  :-x

When I take comb out of a hive after extracting I put it back in the hive. I don't care what the bees use it for.

Yeah, the queen will go where she wants, and if there are available cells, she will use them.  I don't think a slatted rack will dissuade her much.

If they get too black, they will still work, but they start smelling funny too, so that is a personal decision.  I don't think it hurts the honey much if any, a few brood cycles is fine.

On the bright side, a few cocoons in the cells strenghtens the comb as well.
