So, today was still raining (hasn't stopped, except for intermittently).  My internal weather forecast has let me down, I thought that we were going to have sunny skies for a couple of days.  BUT.....the weather man says later on this week, yeah!!!

I have been in a totally grumpy mood all day, really grumpy.  Too wet to go outside, getting sick of doing housework type stuff  ;) :) -- my husband renovating our bathroom, (so many things are not good when the toilet doesn't work and you have to use alternative measures,  :) ;) :)). We have a downstairs bathroom, but sometimes the kids prefer not to use it, hmmmm.  Just like going back to the good ol' days at my Gramma's farm when we were kids.

Oh brother, here we go again, just a ramblin' on.  Oh well.

About an hour before dark I decided that I was going to go outside anyways, drizzling, think it may be referred to as a Scottish mist.  Not hard rain, but very annoying.

I decided that I would take a peek into some of the colonies to see if they are still storing the sugar syprup in the baggies.  No protective gear (again, yeah I know, when will I ever learn?, hee, hee).

All colonies have consumed all the sugar syrup.  Consideration to give just a little more (remember?  My experiemental nature).  I know that I probably shouldn't give them anymore, they probably have enough. But....I have such a need to find out when is exactly the last time that it would be unadvisable to feed anymore.  It would seem to me that if they take it, they still have room to store it.  Undecided, but I am going to sleep on it.

Back to the grumpiness.  Still grumpy, even when I was examining the levels of sugar.  (I mean really grumpy, not my nature, but sometimes I guess we all get this way).  The last colony that I went to take a look into did not like what I was doing.  That was rather weird because none of the other 8 minded one little bit.

Up and out they came.  Ooops.  One went inside my jacket, one went right on the side of my face and started to go in my ear, eeh gads!!!!!  I stood there and thought for a moment what to do.  I simply put their lid back on and walked away.  This poor little bee decided to start to go into my ear and then decided to go back out, but not first without giving me her opinion of what she thought of me.  Away she went.....I felt that burning sensation that we all know so well.

Walked back to the house and asked my husband to have look inside my ear and see if there was a stinger.  Nope, guess for whatever reason, it did not remain behind.  I took off my coat outside in case there were any bees on me.  Nope, but then suddenly, I looked down there was a bee on my left finger.  Oh brother.  Yep, she let me know her displeasure too.  Walked into our bedroom and again, on the inside of my bicept felt that oh too familiar burning sensation, again.  Oh brother, three bees, what a shame.

You will never guess what!!!!  My mood changed after a short time right back to my old happy self.  I am still sitting here baffled and befuddled.  Go figure.

So.......this poses a question or two.

We know that when one is stung by a bee that cortisol is released into the system.  This is what gives the relief from so many malades that us humans have (arthritis-like stuff is one that particularly comes to mind).

Is serotonin released as well?  The happy, feel good hormone?  I haven't ever read about serotonin being released after bee venom experiences, but maybe someone here does know.  Comments, let's bring them on.

Right, and I don't want to hear anyone giving me crap for not wearing protection around my head with the girls!!!  I know that, and I rarely ever go without some kind of veil, heee, heee,  :) ;)  Have a wonderful and beautiful day, on our great planet, Earth.  Cindi

Lets see here Cindi, you have an Overcast Sky with Drizzle, you're Bored and have no protective gear on and you decide to PEEK !

Hi Cindi,
I don't know about serotonin release after a bee sting; but maybe you just felt better after going outside to check on your girls even if they were less than thrilled about your visit.  Then again, maybe the distraction of the stings made you forget about being grumpy!

Never deprive yourself of a happy day!

The one time I don't like dealing with bees is when there is about to be rain, it is raining, or there has been rain. My bees have no problem expressing their displeasure of me peeking when it rains.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Perhaps the sting in the outside of the ear channel released endorphins.
Try this some time. When you are feeling kind of glum, massage the ear lobe.  I think that it is a really nice feeling and has nice reactions.  Google endorphins. They have a tale to tell.

I am getting happier, two more stings today, heee, hee  :) :) :)  Enjoy and have a wonderful day.  Cindi

   Cindi!

A gentleman down the street, who has asked me to help him start beekeeping, and I weree talking a couple weeks ago and he was talking to his nephew who is a doctor  (I think he said pain management) and he asked why when he gets stung by bee or wasp or fly he feels a better mood later.  He said his nephew said pain DOES cause the release of seratonin in the system (or is it endorphins :?) that helps us feel good and handle certain stresses on our body.  Kinda like how I used to feel after a good work out. ;)

I know I feel good after and my family gets a good laugh for a couple days...depending on where she nails me of course.
Everyone said it couldn't be done. But he with a chuckle replied, "I won't be one to say it is so, until I give it a try."  So he buckled right in with a trace of a grin.  If he had a worry he hid it and he started to sing as he tackled that thing that couldn't be done, and he did it.  (unknown)

qa33010.  Working out, painful I understand, pain releases hormones, no pain, no gain.  Hmmmm......gonna have to delve deeper.

Beehopper, nope, not really bored, but needed to get outside to release some kempt up energies.  I knew that the girls needed checking, and being of a curious nature, set out to see how they were coming along with their winter consumption.  Yes, I know better, really I do, never work bees when there is impending bad weather.  The girls have an uncanny sense of barometric pressures, and you can bet your bottom dollar that when it is is going to rain, or bad weather coming, they all know, and head home.  They are all indoors when it is the bad weather, where it is a balmy 92-97 degrees F.  Why not, we should be so lucky to have this tropical paradise, the moment we decide that the outside is too nasty, hee hee  :) :) :)  Have a wonderful and beautiful day in our great life.  Cindi

Nah Cindi, I just always felt really good after a good workout.  The mind was still whole then also. ;)
