Wierd top covers ?

 I watched that program on CCD awhile back,and noticed the hive tops the one beek was using. You know the black ones with the stove pipe thingy on top.
  What was that for?

They were probably feeder cans through a hole in a migratory top.

I saw that and I think they were actually using a old clip of them harvesting honey - and I believe those were fume boards modified in to breeze boards      8-)    http://www.bee-quick.com/breeze.html     RDY-B
