I am reminded of that commerical where the asian guy comes into his boss and says we have have a problem. He explains that business is going so well they will have to expand and hire new employees and "get those card readers." The asian guy is stressed out by the larger scope of work he may be facing. His boss looks at him and says isn't that the idea? Basically meaning business should improve and get better allowing for expansion.

Last night at dinner my wife who does inventory on my honey told me we are basically sold out. I have a mason jar left and two bears. That is another batch over a hundred pounds of honey out the door fast again. She also said she had to turn down an order for twenty pounds of chemical free honey because we don't have any. Since I have been running back and forth and I really don't go into my hives in November and December. I am basically out of stock. She reminds me we are still paying back the inital investments. I remind her it's a hobby and will probably never turn a plus but the idea is to not leak money.

She about flips a lid when I remind her how much the up front cash is for the permacomb.

I have gone out to my bees and explained that we need to step up honey production. They ignored me and cailmed union rules saying they are on a break. Meanwhile they are running pollen in and out. Drones are still in the hives.

So while things are going well I still have a ways to go. I made my wife buy dinner.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

Ha, see, you are a funny dude!!!  So you know about "flipping their lid", hee, hee, I know about that.  My dog, Kooder and my Husband have also flipped their lids!!!!

I don't think that any talkin' to your bees is gonna help you right now.  Good of you to give it a whirl though, but doubtful, like the impression they gave you, they are currently on strike.

Brendhan, in all seriousness.  Good, you have obviously done very well with your colonies, you have people that are very interested in your honey and this bodes well for any future honey sales, yea!!!!  Great stuff.  Now, all you have to do is get out there and catch so many more swarms and cutouts so you can increase your hive numbers so you can have even more honey to sell.

And.....get off your butt and make the bees pay for the initial outlay of cash, that will make your Wife so happy, hee, hee.  Best of this great and wonderful day, Cindi

I disagree, talking to your bees will help, you. :-D

I'm in the same boat, sold out of honey for a while now. Didn't have much rain at the right time this yr, flowers were dry. Here's to hoping for an upcoming banner season. Hey, you could always get some from Dane!

The little that I got, about 25 lbs, is gone to people who where basically lining up for it. I had saved a little for myself, but someone I knew begged me for that last little jar. I gave it away. The reason is I still have 8 frames of capped honey in the freezer waiting for me or the bees (if they need it this winter) But, I do not have any honey now for myself.

I have been buying honey from a local beekeeper. I think I need to save more honey for myself next year.

Sorry Brendhan that your wife got angry. This should be a fun hobby and not taken so seriously. My husband frowns everytime I tell him I have to go downtown Sacramento to the bee store to purchase supplies. He asks me what it will cost? So I have my issues going on here too.

Stay strong and keep your good sense of humor, which will get you through everything in life.

My wife is allowed to. It is not easy for me to come up with $3,500.00. And we aren't touching the emergency fund for my beekeeping hobby. I live debt free, not rich. So having to front that much money, she has reason to be concerned. She wants to make sure that I have enough people buying to turn this around as quickly as I get it in.

And John Seets also understands this. He and I have been in communication trying to work it out. John doesn't take credit cards, which is fine by me. He has never had a bad check and I will not be his first. Also if John is making an effort to make sure that he can do this at a reasonable price I want to work with him. I don't need John going broke either or there is no permacomb.

Beekeeping is still a hobby for me. And this is a big leap for a hobby. I want to throw a few more checks to the bank.

Also if I told her that I would have to take money from the kitchen renovation fund for my beekeeping she would make sure I had a very unhappy christmas.

Don't get it wrong the wife is not a cheapskate or miser. She just wants to make sure the bills get paid first. She is not a big fan of debt. And I agree with her.

So I know when she is flipping a lid she is just being concerned. I just get her another glass of wine and more chocolate. And eventually everything works out.

Sincerely,
Brendhan

That's great that you've sold just about all your honey, but too bad you're out. I'm looking forward to selling some next year.

Thanks again for the amusing post.
