Hi All,

Tis I again, she of many questions.

If my plan is to use all mediums ( 8 frames )  how many should I designate for brood, or should I just let the bees decide?

The bees will predominantly use about three medium boxes. Sometimes they wiil use some of the fourth. But,given circumstances they could really expand the brood nest.

Okay, that is sorta what I have planned on...3 mediums for brood...then I can add some leftover shallows or buy more mediums for honey supering...coolness!

Four eight frame mediums equals two ten frame deeps.  I use no queen excluder, so I just let the bees decide.

Ditto, when it comes to honey production the more bees the more they gather so let the queen have as much brood space as she wants until after the large flow in your area.  sometimes that's 3 boxes, sometimes 4, and occassionally 5 when using medium boxes.
