Brian, interesting you talk about the sound of the rusty gate hinge.  We have Stellar Jays that sound just like that.  But now I am wondering if there are Guinnea fowl lurking in the bushes somewhere that are making this sound, not the Stellars, weird world that we live in, so, love life anyways, Cindi
There are strange things done in the midnight sun by the men who moil for gold.  The Arctic trails have their secret tales that would make your blood run cold.  The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see, what the night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee.  Robert Service

     "rusty gate hinges or Donkeys."

That is perfect!!  So many times I've been asked  "What do they sound like"

BuckWHEAT!  BuckWHEAT!  That's what I hear when the guineas sing.

What a great story!  It's amazing how individuals in a species differ!  I had a Khaki Campbell duck that was in love with my dog, he would follow her into the house & all over the yard..she couldn't sit still..needless to say the feeling wasn't mutual!  Be glad your admirer isn't a goose..ewwwww! She is beautiful!

The only reason i could catch them is because it was dark..oh yeh, sometimes the collies would lead us to them!
