Moving hive ?

I have a Fairly new package (Wed) that my neighor said I could put on the corner of his field and now he has had a change of heart. Yes In general I have heard about the 3' rule and started the move. The ? is if I can Do any more than 3 feet. Did put branches of pine needle in the door way to night after the three ' move.
