Whats this black foundation  i have never heard of it before and it sounds interesting for making a bit easier to identify eggs in the brood chambers ,where can i see some of this foundation or does anyone have some pictures ?Any web addresses i could view it on .

Hi Eric!
I just recently switched over to black foundation from EZ frames. My decision was just a matter of the catalog stating that the eggs can be seen easier against a black background..I could see the eggs fine before i switched. The bees like it just as well as the other stuff I was using.

From my experience, black foundation(if you must use plastic) is better than white. Providing it has a wax coat (I suggest adding more if you have spare wax) and you give a few squirts of sugar water, they seem to build it out quicker than the white that's placed in the same box.  Whether they'll do it everytime I do not know. The only reason it's in some of my hives at all is that someone gave me a whole bunch of black and white and I'll occasionally throw some of it in. But wired wax foundation is still my main choice, the bees seem to pick it before the plastic and only draw on plastic when it's the only thing left.
