Hey guys,

Back to ole' Beemaster.com again, I'm glad to say I have bee fever again!

I lost a good number of hives, simply because of how dang cold it was over the winter.
I really underestimated how cold it was, and there really was nothing I could do once it became 15F-30F below for about 3 weeks straight.

But I've learned a lesson, going to leave them a LOT more stores, and make sure the hives are plump with honey when the first snow fall comes this year. However there is snow on the ground at the moment...(It was 75F two days ago! Oh well, I guess you get that in Minnesota)

Anyways, I have hives that are replacing them, and I'm really excited.
I have some hives with old brood left in the comb, do you guys usually leave them in the comb and let the bees clean out the comb?

The hives are coming May 15th. (Finally!) I know a lot of you guys never stopped beekeeping all year, (lucky) and some of you are newcomers. Special word of note to all of you who have studied over the winter, and are starting your first hives this spring, don't be too hard on yourself, take it easy, let the bees work it out themselves. (You'd be surprised how hives can be deceiving.) Just my opening statement of the year, and I wish it to be the best one yet!

Thanks, and the best of luck to all of you!

Welcome back and sorry to here of your loss but I love your attitude, very inspiring. I would let the new bees clean up the mess, they seem to do a better job than me.
