I met up with my beek buddy to help start my two splits for my Buckfast queens. He said we needed to go and check on some hives that he hasn't visited in a while. He had ten hives at this location. The first one we opened had a lot of queen cells in it and we couldn't find the queen. They had swarmed some time before and he had missed it. We had to pull a piece of comb off that had a queen cell on it and it started to hatch!!! We laid the cell on the top of the frames and she poked her head out a couple of times and then she came out and went down into the hive. The Beek said that he has been doing this for about twenty years and had never seen a queen hatch. He didn't know what was in store for us later !! We pulled some more of the queen cells from this hive and laid them on top of that. We started working on the next hive, they had been queenless for quit some time,no eggs or brood, while I was holding a queen cell it started to hatch !!! She came out right in my hand and I was able to place her on the second hive. She went right in and every one was happy. Two for two. As we moved on working on other hives it was apparent that they had all swarmed about the same time. I had two more queens hatch into my hand, one at a time, and we were able to place them in two more hives. Four queens within thirty min. of each other and three in my hands. What a thrill that was. My first day with the beek getting my first hives in several years ready, and to have something like this happen. Today is a day that I will never forget. God's creation is certainly a wonderful thing !!!  Jim <><
