Bees not moving up

One strong hive is in 3 mediums with one medium of drawn comb on top. They have not brought anything up although the 3 brood boxes seem crowded with good eggs, larva, and capped brood. There is also a lot of nectar and pollen. There is no queen excluder on. Other hives are starting to fill the supers.

I brought a frame of brood and a frame of nectar up into the super. Is this a way to get them up there and transfering nectar upwards ?

Ray, they have their own agenda. By bringing brood up, you could possibly encourage the queen to start laying where you just want honey. I would bring them back down.

Some hives don't produce on our schedule, be patient.

rayb, JP has far more experience, but i have had your problem also.  i have one particular hive that will not move up even though they are extremely crowded.  they did the same last year.  by moving a little brood and food up, they are finally encouraged to follow. i would not mess with them unless they were very crowded.  in my case, they fully covered all 10 bottom deep frames.
