Let's say I would like to try spliting.

Which time of year is best for it.

Anyone know the percentage of queen rearing failures in doing a split?  Seems like it can go South pretty quickly...hhhhmmm

I like to do my splits in late June or Early July, that way they have time to become established and develop sufficient stores of their own for overwintering.

I agree with Brian.  Around here we're having locust tree bloom and usually that means swarm time is right behind that.
  Splits are a good way to prevent swarming.
