Ok, so I'm a nooBEE.

I have never had bees, never been around beehives, and have never been fond of being stung.
So why not start keeping bees!  I enjoy doing my own research, and being involved in preserving the environment.

the most helpful videos I found were those of NJBeemaster, I believe who happens to be the same that hosts this forum?
If it is, then thank you, and kudos for sharing your passion.

When it came time to order my supplies, I had originally placed orders with Better-Bee.  They totally flubbed my order and had three different conflicting reasons as to why.
1 week prior to picking up my nuc, and I was hiveless!

so I called Dadant & Sons.

They sent my unassembled hive kit two days later, even though they had a backlog of orders.

So here it is, the shameless plug....
for great advice and tips, you can't beat BEEMASTER.COM
for great supplies and service, go to DADANT.COM

those two places made it easy for me and my family to get started.

Hey K-R,

Glad things worked out for you.

Continuing with your "Shameless plug" theme: What are you doing this Saturday (6/21)? The Indiana State Beekeepers are having their summer meeting at the Purdue bee yards. We'd love to have you join us. There are 3 morning & 4 afternoon sessions to choose from; everything from beginning beekeeping to queen grafting to making handcrafted products from the hive. Let me know if you need directions/times, etc.

Welcome!

I've always had great response from Dadant, and Mann Lake did well for me this spring.  But I don't order much often.

The suppliers have been behind this year on basic equipment, so I'd cut them a little slack this year, nobody was ready for the business they got.

Beekeeping really has nothing to do with preserving the environment any more than getting a dog does, but if it makes you feel good, then great!  I just love bees, outdoors, bugs, gardening, etc so it really works for me.  Get used to being stung.  Sure, you can keep it to a minimum, but when you stick your hands into a box full of 50,000 stinging insects, then you are bound to get a few.

And I had to ad-block your avitar.  That is just too much.
