Today we did hive inspections of the two hives we installed in May....we requeened two weeks ago as we had never seen any sign of having Queens but had given them plenty of time to get going as there had been plenty of reasons why they may have been slow to get going.

Anyway, today we were happy to find eggs and larvae in all stages :)  LOTS of it in both hives :)

So with that AND the swarm I found earlier this week I am one very happy beek :)

The eggs and larvae are just in time I think because the colonies are getting quite small....they will really need to work hard at building themselves up ready for Winter.  It was very exciting to see so much development in two weeks :)  I'm so glad I left them alone for the two weeks :)  I can't wait to see what the swarm has done when I check on it next time!  It was so neat to see everything in all the different stages - and I was amazed at how easy it was to see it all - I was expecting to find it hard to see it all but it was so easy....and so obvious - I don't know why I was so worried all this time - now it seems so obvious that we didn't have Queens in the hives before!

good luck with them, they should be good to go now, I got a couple weak ones too. I'm hoping on them making a winter go as well.
