Colony in tree absconded before I got there, shb larvae in roughly two days time, doesn't take long folks, I've seen this a number of times now, these little bastages are there lurking and waiting for their opportunity.

A swarm on September 18? Yep, it was actually a colony that I didn't even know I had living in a box on my back patio, that showed up weeks ago.

My friend Bailey wanted a queen for one of his hives and I told him I had this colony living in a box with good numbers and that he could have it, next day which was yesterday, I walked outside and there are bees everywhere and landing on a bush out front.

Wound up being the "box bees".

Last set of pics is a small colony I removed and nuc'ed yesterday in Franklinton, Louisiana.

Small bees and a rather dark queen.
