Hello to all,
I was wondering about registering my (2) 1st year hives.
I was hoping some of you Michigan beeks could tell me what you think about it.

Oh, and of course comments from anyone would be welcome as well!!

The truth is, I'm always reluctant get involved with state or government about what I do.... :-\
I live in the country mostly 4 & 5 acre parcel homes around me, but my neighbors know i have bees.
One of them complained about bees at their pool, I've since came up w/a bee pool for them and they seem to like it.

So......is registering required, and is it a good, bad or smart thing to do?
I want to be a good responsible beekeeper for sure, but if I don't have to report them....should I anyway?

Thanks to all
Paul

danno

michigan doesn't have registration for hives only extracting facilites and our one inspector is only parttime

danno, what about registration for apiaries?  Most states have some way to register an apiary.  Michigan might not though, I don't know about their specific regulations.  I have to say, good for them if they don't, but if they do, even if voluntary, I would.

I found out that doing a search will get a lot of info and fast.

there is no apiary registration in michigan.  Honey houses have to be inspected yearly and lic.

Scadsobees

I've never heard of any registration of hives or apiaries either.

I would think that all of the old timers at the area beekeeper club would have said something if that were a requirement, since there are both experienced and new people there, and nobody has said anything about that.

I wouldn't sweat it.  I haven't so far  :-D.
