Harvestng Cutout honey in Old combs?

JP and anyone else who does alot of cutouts.  Is there a good way to harvest the honey?

I'm a Top Bar Hive guy, I'm use to new combs that crush nicely and I can easily crush in my hands or between two boards.  But these last 2 cutouts I did, well hell, the combs are old and it was like crushing triple ply cardboard. Neither fun nor easy.

Do you guys have an easier method than hand crushing?

use a pestle, or similar.  make sure you strain it well or you'll have yucky stuff in it.

Is the yucky stuff tasty?

I use a paint strainer over a 5 gal bucket. I've not needed to strain farther, I think someone at my club recommended undyed muslin cloth. Does that sound right?

BTW, box muslin and cheese cloth are the same thing, except for the spelling.

Then I'm thinking about cloth of slightly finer mesh, can anyone think of it?

I used to strain mine through curtain sheers. A fine polyester fabric like panty hose only more tough and heavier.

Have one, and its terrible for this old tough comb, it bent it. 

Its great for fresh combs off my KTBH.
