What does everyone use for labels on their honey containers?  Do you order from the bee catalogs or make your own?  How about containers?  Plastic or glass?  Pro and cons of each please.  What is the most popular size?  Pint, 1/2 pint, quart?  Some will be to sell and some will be for friends.  This may make a difference.

You will hear from both the glass camps and the plastic folks.  I truly love my embossed plastic jars in one pound and 2 1/2 pound sizes from Honey Tree . . . they own the blow molds and are the manufacturer of these slimline jars:

At the customer service prompt wait for the Maryann Richmond prompt  #4 I think  Photo of jar here:

I purchase without lids, and use a ribbed white cap with pressure sensitive, tamper evident seal purchased in bulk rather than the squeeze cap.

I print my own labels in a kraft label stock for jar front.  I purchase 3 nice commercial "Nutritional Facts" labels for back of my jars that includes the weights that I package.  I'll look for a pic somewhere in the files.

So mark me down for plastic and split on labels

utahbeekeeper,

Do you get the nutritional labels from Honey Tree as well?  Is that 3 different sizes or three different labels?  On the kraft label did you input your own background with wording on the forefront?

Mark . . . no not Honey Tree for labels.  I have put together several favorite sources for things.  Here is where I get the nutritional facts labels . . . nice folks, all the sizes I need and great price:

Honey Nutritional Labels at Draper Bee

FYI on the jars . . . here is Dadant's listing of that Jar:

2 1/2 pound thinline jar embossed with Honey Bee

Dadant's price is $.87  each PLUS shipping.  From my Honey Tree invoice, same jar is $.58 each PLUS shipping.  I order several cases at a time.  Caps from SKS . . . bag of 144 for $.13 each PLUS shipping.  I order a ton of stuff from SKS so always toss in a bag of lids with our lip balm tubes and shrink bands.  Shipping there is just penneys more for the caps.  TOTAL for jar and lined lid $.71 Vs $.87 from Dadant and others.

I made a label in Photoshop using our logo.  Then use Avery's free label printing program to print them on kraft label stock . . . we like the look, but you may like white.  The best source for labels of any kind is:

Labels Online

Their water resistant white labels really are.  We use them on all our beeswax based personal care items.  For honey, we use the True Cream color . . . info shows up real good and is actually close to kraft in tone . . . just not as dark.

Hope it helps.  Bee well!!!
