i recently bought one of the bellows type dusters and i would like to warn folks to not waste their money, they don't work. i kept an open mind and tried it several times but the fact is it is just plain junk. i don't mind the fact that i wasted my money,( nothing ventured, nothing gained) but i feel like it might turn people away from the use of powdered sugar for mite control. what i ended up doing was getting my wife's flour sifter ( bought at dollar store), taking my hives down to the brood boxes and sifting about a half cup down through the frames. i'm not an expert at this but it seemed to work pretty well. i use screened bottom boards and plenty of sugar made it's way down through the hives and on to the inspection board. the good thing about all this is that i don't seem to have many mites. if any of you have used these type dusters i hope you've had better luck.
when you're dumb, ya gotta be tough.

Once I saw Dadant offering those bellows I had them pegged as a gadget you would buy then end up not using, just like so much other stuff. I would be inclined to just add the sugar from above.
But thanks for the warning just in case I have a weak moment
