We have had a visit from a couple bees at our kitchen window a few hours after dark.
The light makes them act like a moth.If they navigate from the sun how do they get home in the dark.
The hives are about 500 feet away.

Bees do fly to the light, but they usually are back in the hive before dark. They don't go out of the hive after dark so those may have gotten caught out for some reason or other.

Hey you want to do something really Darwinian? Go open a hive with a head light!

If you look closely, you'll see they have tiny night-vision goggles on.  Sometimes the bright lights will disorient some of them and blinded they stumble into the light.
