Just trying to stay ahead of the power curve here.  I have two nucs, one from a very small new package and one from a split I did a couple weeks ago.  Both queens have been released, but the weather hasn't cooperated enough for me to see whether the queens are laying yet.

I have two questions: I was planning to wait till the bees were pretty crowded before I make the transfer, is this correct?

When I make the transfer, do I put the nuc frames in the center of the 10 frame deep or to one side?

Thanks!

Personally, I put them to one side.  It allows them to keep their warmth up and gives them less surface area they have to defend.  To me hives do well being in a more confined area that fits their population and you're doubling the size of their house.  Putting them up against a wall helps to keep them confined.  As they get growing they'll move the only way they can.  I'm not saying I'm right but I've had better luck doing that way, especially on undrawn foundation.

ALL THE ABOVE!!!

If the flow is on, and they are going to be drawing comb fast, CENTER.

If the flow is light or none at all, the south side.
