Very exciting, received a call just as I was leaving work yesterday afternoon about 4:30PM. Just about 10 minutes down the highway. They were up in a tree about 15 feet up. Left and called my friend Shawna who is the project coordinator for the beekeeping project I am doing. We drove back together and borrowed an extension ladder and leaned it up against the tree limb. Shawna, bless her soul, is totally fearless and she just marched up that extension ladder, while I held it for dear life, with a box and a broom. (that is all we had). Well she knocked quite a few into that box and we checked if we got the queen.  After a few minutes, it was apparent, no queen. They were flying back up to the tree. Shawna marched back up that ladder again and this time used her hand and kept scooping bees into the box. They started to fan at the entrance to the box and we knew that we got the queen this time. Went back about 0930PM and picked up the box of bees.

No bees left in the tree.  What a rush of excitement for both of us. Shawna gets these bees because she is fearless in climbing up that ladder twice.

Good to hear you are getting swarms, that is just one of the most fun things to do.

Sounds like you need to trade your red umbrella for a Mary Poppins flying umbrella  :-D :-D
