Well, some of you might have read my previous posts about capturing a grumpy swarm.  I left on vacation two days after that and never went back close enough to get a good look at the hive.  They were still there the morning I left, and still grumpy.  Hopefully they'll still be there and in a better mood when I get back!

Anyway, I was confuzed about the sizing on the Ultra Breeze suits, but that is what I planned to order.   The medium seemed enormous but that seemed to be the smallest size offered.  So I tried to call the owner and ask about it before spending so much.  I couldn't get through and now, here I am on vacation ready to order it and there is apparently a backlog on the bee suits and jackets and no estimate of when it will be cleared.  :'(  I'd like to be able to buy a good suit the first time out and not waste money on lesser ones.  After my 11 stings the more sting-resistant the better.  I've read that the Golden Bee is similarly sting resistant, similarly priced, etc, but I'm a little leery of what I've read about customer service and sizing, and plus I just plain like the look of the Ultra Breeze better.

I know I have to get out to the hive and check things out soon after I get home, and I had no idea it took so long to order a suit.  I guess I figured it was just like ordering anything else.  I was sadly mistaken and I'm just not quite sure what to do now. :(

Anyone know how long the backlog will last?  Or how long it might take when I finally CAN order one?  Anyone have any suggestions for me? I'm so sad I can't get my suit. :(

i got a golden and wouldn't trade it for any other. they are located in Louisiana the customer service issues was largely created when they lost everything in hurricane Katrina. the couple that was making them was getting up in there years. there daughter has taken over and is building it back up i ordered my suit from here over a year ago and had it by the end of the week

I have both the Golden Bee Products suit and the Ultra Breeze.  I don't think either will disappoint you.  As to sizes you want something about two sized too big.  When fabric gets stretched over your that's when the bees manage to sting.  Loose is better.  It also lets you move and work without restriction.

Thanks, Riverrat and Michael!  Michael, I took the measurements listed on the website and they were about half as long as those on the medium suit.  I usually wear a women's medium shirt, but a bee suit twice as big as me seemed like it might be a little too much loose material. :-D

Can somebody tell me about the new veils on the Golden bee suit?  I read on other threads that it is different now and lays to the side, but I can't figure out what that means.  I may call in an order with Golden today, if I can figure out my exact measurements.

I have one of the new styles that lay over to the side. Years ago they put the zipper where the start and end was at the back of the suit. thus you could unzip it and pull the hood over your head to where it hung down your back. The new ones the zipper starts and stops on the front. when you unzip it will hang on your shoulder or in front of you. at first i didn't care for the hood hanging on the front but once you get used to it it isn't to bad or you can detach the hood and take it off. If you call and talk to Suzie she may make you one special that zips the old way. I do believe she has done this for some in the past.
