Well I did a little inspection today on my hive. With all the problems I think it is doing ok. I did not take out any frames cause I wanted to give them more time building. I did see the queen and it looks like they have a bout 1 1/2 total frames done give or take. Does this sound OK for a small amount of bees?
Thanks
Brian

PS state bee inspector comes out next week.

If you saw the queen and didn't take out any frames to inspect, you are very fortunate indeed.

1 and 1/2 frames drawn out already and you ask if that is ok for so few numbers of bees.  I'll give you the lawyer answer "it all depends".

Seriously now, if you see the bees busy on the frames, working hard, going about their business, then I say relax.  How did you come by these bees?  Where they a small swarm or a package or a purchased nuc?

If you are concerned about the number of bees and you have another strong hive, you can always transfer a frame of capped brood over to the smaller hive.  My mentor told me, I could transfer the frame of broood with all of the bees attached to it, probably mostly nursery bees HOWEVER, I haven't done that yet, due to concerns about transferring the queen along with the frame of brood.

good luck.
