I got wood frames this spring great price from a fellow that was quiting. Another story. I have only used plastic and am very happy. Well I needed more boxes with frames (warm weather Upstate NY?) Well I tried cking them today. No more wood frames, plastic comes out a lot better(easy) Bees don't like it when you use a hammer on their hive. Good wiff of bananas. My joints don't hurt. Looks like a good year for honey.  It is still fun.  Tony

why would you use a hammer on a box full of bees?

mudlakee, did you grow up in rochester or half drown in lake ontario?  WHY did you hit your hives with a hammer? :whip:

A j hook bee tool and just pry each frame out.  No hammer needed.

AMEN!
Wood frames are better, 3 to 1.

 Hammer??  I'm so glad you are here talking to us now instead of laid up looking like the Michellin Man.

What do wood frames have to do with a hammer??
The bees would be no help; they would tumble over each other like golden babies and thrum wordlessly on the subjects of queens and sex and pollen-gluey feet. -Palimpsest

Most people use a hammer to nail the frames together, or back together.  That is all I could think of using a hammer on them for.

But not while they're *in* the hive!

It certainly makes working on them more fun.

"If it don't fit, don't force it...just use a bigger hammer"

Scott
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

If your problem is getting the frames out of the box because the bees glued them in there too good,  then you can always use a blow torch to warm up and melt the glue to free them.
