Help locating O.H.'s.

I had previously ordered a couple observation hives from Betterbee. I liked the style and arrangements of the feeder, entrance, etc.

But they have discontinued this particular model. They will be coming out with another model but are working out the details. And at this time they can not guarantee delivery in April 2011.

I scanned Brushy mountain, Kelley, Mannlake, etc. But have found nobody that actually sells observation hives. And I am not interested in what is called the "ulster hive" setup.

So help me out. Who has observation hives? I need 6.

I want two deeps, a side feeder, entrance on the other side, and glass or plexi on both sides to view the bees.

Anybody have any leads.

Draw up some plans and take them to a local cabinet/woodworking shop for a price. Chances are you'll get a better product at a better price that way.

We build all types of things in our shop that local folks bring in. If you have a problem locally maybe we can help you out.

Scott and Peggy build some nice stuff, plus Scott is real creative.  Lucky for me they live across the way!!!

As soon as winter comes, maybe we can start tinkering with the new bee-vac design.
The one they have now rocks, so if he has and idea for a new one, I can't wait!
I also wouldn't mind having an OH myself, would be a cool way to learn more....

His are stacked. You can add supers or deeps. As many as you want.

i really like mine, but if i were to design one i'd want to be able to open each section rather than having to open the entire side.  iddee, that one looks like it opens in sections?

check ebay.  a few years ago there was someone on there building them to order (size) and the price was not to bad.  they were east coasters and the shipping was to much for me.

I might be wrong but Kellys is very similar.   kind of a stackable system.   I checked there online catalog and and it is listed but there is no pic but it seem to me it is pictured in there mail out catalog.

not to your specification Bjorn but I like the 'shoe box' style observation hive.  I built mine for medium depth frame.  The real plus plus plus is their stability and ease of maintaining the unit.
