African "killer" bees in Georgia

I think the question is, were these bees imported this season or have they migrated further north and now in South Georgia.

I don't think that 100 stings(or more) is all that unusual on an unprotected man after hitting the hive with a tractor.  Details are a bit sparse.  But if they were in the airways and ears.....

I'm also not surprised with AHB anywhere, as most of the queen breeders are within ahb range.  As meticulous as they are with the drones and all, it would be pretty tricky to keep the genes out completely. 

I'd say 10% of the queens I ordered from Georgia (2 out of 20) had more aggressive offspring, not to the AHB level that I'm aware of, but unpleasant nonetheless.

But then again, I'm just a hobbyist in the North with gentle bees, so that is all opinion.

I just read that they confirmed through testing that the bees that stung that man to death in Albany, were indeed africanized.  I know we knew it would happen, but I'm so sad.
