Okay, I know it's bad, but I havent opened my hive in a couple months.  I would love to, trust me, but I'm in college and the distance is a difficult factor.  Anyway, I was wondering if it is okay for me not to harvest this season...Last time I checked, the second deep hive body wasn't full, and as of now those are the only two boxes.  This weekend I'll finally get a chance to go home.  Should I add a super even if I'm not going to harvest?  Is it okay for me to leave the super on during the winter?  I've been having my mom administer syrup to the feeder occaisionally.

I wouldn't put a super on AND feed.  Do one or the other.  If you think there's a dearth, feed.  If you think there's a flow and the hive is heavy, put the super on.

It would also help if you update your profile with your location.  Climate is a big factor when asking for recommendations.
