I was searching for info on mold in the winter hive and this forum came up and I found some excellent info. Thank you all! This is my fist year beekeeping and this winter I've noticed a large number of dead bees in front of one of my hives. (I have 2 hives) How many dead bees are normal for winter in a mild climate?

Welcome, and for dead bees, just how many is a large number?  50 or 5,000?   Under 50 I would not worry a bit.  I think you are doing fine.

Welcome! How do you pronounce Snohomish?  Just the way it sounds?  Yes, if it not thousands, don't worry about the dead bees - it's normal.

Hi Ginny,

Hello from Brier, WA.  I am currently taking the WSU extension class on beekeeping and am in the process of buying all my equipment.  I just ordered my first bees from Beez Neez in Snohomish.

Where did you buy your hive parts and other equipment?

Thanks,

Stephany
