Wild blackberry blooms

Rambling on......

I took a stroll by my hives today to see what they were doing.  As I drove down the path I noticed a lot of wild blackberry in bloom. The apiary is in a old apple orchard that  is not maintained and the blackberry bushes are running wild up the apple trees. There were so many blooms that from a distance,  the apple trees looked like they were in bloom again.  The bees were all over these flowers  for pollen and nectar.  

I'm really excited since there is 50 arces of abandoned orchard and lots of wild blackberry in bloom and 3 days of sun forcasted.  The bees were frantically working everwhere I went.    I stopped the truck and opened my windows  and 3 bees flew in on their way back to the hive.

The thing that is so strange is that I don't remember the blooms being so plentiful last year at this time.  It's funny what a beekeeper notices.  I guess it's anotner reason to keep an active logbook.

Interesting that you are also noticing the different types of plants blooming,until I started keeping bees I realy didn't pay attention to blossoms very much. Now I can hardly wait to see what is in flower! This hobby certainly keeps one in tune with the environment.By the way leominsterbeeman  I just read your website for the first time-- nice job!

This year seems to be very plentiful in blooms. I've noticed more blooms this year, and I was watching for them the last couple years. But this year it's way more than normal. Plus, some other people on this forum said they had more blooms than usual too. One even said that some old timer told him the blooms were very high.
Good conditions this year I guess.
